Madeline Davis GLBT Archives of WNY
Director’s Report   10/22/08

Treasurer’s Report -  Total Funds on Hand   $3712.29
(Donald Licht is unable to attend the meeting due to illness.  Jim Haynes is also
unable to attend.)

We received our award of $1000 from the Buffalo Brunch (now called Embracing WNY).  We also received an
award of $500 from Reign 17 of the Imperial Court of Buffalo, Thom Branscom, Emperor.  These awards are
reflected in the Total funds.  We are anticipating an award from Verizon on behalf of Wendy Smiley who has
earned yearly awards for her volunteer time.

A recent donation from William Slattery to the Archives consists of memorabilia from bars open in the 1980s
and 90s: shot glasses, t-shirts, membership cards, golf pencils and match books.  A thank you letter was
sent.  Bill is moving out of town and will be donating more items as he comes across them while packing.

Ron Brunette donated a DVD:  Anders als die Andern (Different from the Others- German), and 2 CDs: the
Gay Muscle Magazines from 1960s to 1980s (photos) and the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus recording,
Love Lives On – 1991. Thank you call made.
Camille Hopkins is planning on leaving Buffalo in early December.  She will be donating information on her life
in Buffalo including her transition process, to the Archives.

There will be an event held by the Buffalo Brunch Committee- Embracing WNY, on Friday, Nov. 14, 6-8:00 p.
m.  in the 4th floor Montante Library at D’Youville College.  It will be a reception and a formal presentation of
the award of the $1000 to the MDGLBT Archives.  The program will be a presentation by the Archives
including a talk, an updated Powerpoint presentation and a display of memorabilia for attendees to peruse.
The Board will aid in deciding which items to display and topics on which to speak.

Since I have not heard  from our volunteer, Sarah Blatter, in more than a month, I am assuming she will not
be working at the Archives.  I therefore have openings for at least 2 more volunteers.  At present our
volunteer staff consists of Helen Christian, Yvonne Stocker and Norma Murphy.
